DRAMA RESIDENCIES

engage student’s imaginations as they:

  • create and analyze characters and the world around them

  • understand the basic principles of drama and theatre

  • teach students to compare and contrast various contexts

  • build decision making, strategic planning and problem-solving skills

  • gain empathy and understanding from various points of view.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Pre or Post Show Workshops
    These creative, participatory workshops explore the themes and subject matter from LCT productions while incorporating basic theatre skills. These workshops are available for all LCT’s Main Stage performances.

  • Educational Residencies
    Let LCT’s professional artists bring their extensive experience into your classroom. An LCT residency program is designed to offer young people the opportunity to learn in a dynamic, fun and challenging way. LCT tailors a residency to the needs of your students, curriculum and budget.  LCT offers residencies that range for a one time visit to a month long intensive program.

    LCT offers a variety of residencies which include these examples:

  • PERFORMANCE WORKSHOPS
    Two week intensive unit culminating in a performance. LCT provides all scripts, costumes, props and scenery.

  • KENTUCKY CORE CONTENT - Elements of Drama
    This residency is a one time visit to assist students in preparation for the KCC testing.

  • ACTING
    Learn the fundamentals of acting, including much of the vocabulary covered in the Kentucky Core Content

  • SPOTLIGHT ON READING
    Students explore popular literature through drama, creative writing, art and movement.

  • SCIENCE AND ART
    Students can explore a variety of scientific concepts using drama. Experience the wonders of nature, animals, bugs, weather, plants, recycling, or the rain forest through the use of role-play, movement and pantomime.
